I need to get a WiFi range extender/signal booster
I need to get a range extender for my WiFi signal. Right now the router is in the 2nd floor corner, and the signal doesn’t reach to the basement, where I spend a fair amount of time. What should I be looking for in a range extender? What features do I want? Brand? What should I avoid? How much should I expect to spend? Thanks!

I'd look at the tri-band extenders.
A standard extender looses 50% of the speed from the router. reason why is it has to receive and then re-transmit a signal. and it can't do both at once. That's why it looses speed.
The tri-bands mitigate that by using one of the 5ghz bands just for router---extender communication
