Issue setting up my netgear extender (ac1750 ex6250v2) and my netgear nighthawk M2 mobile 4G routeur

Hello,

I have since 2 years a mobile mobile 4G LTE Mobile Routeur M2( MR2100) that works correctly but does not have a long range.

I have recently bought a netgear extender AC1750 Wifi Mesh Extender that I would like to use to extend the MR2100 4G LTE Mobile routeur when  at home.

It does not work.

The nighthawk  app just block

I was able to configure it manually, the wifi ID of the MR2100 is identified and setup seems to go ok .. .

I am able to connect to the extender site and tried various configuration ( with or without mesh using same or different WIFI network id.

The connection client PC (or phone) to  extender generally works ( even if sometimes it took few tries)

BUT : the connection between the extender or the router generally does not work ( it is in in grey and the corresponding led is off ).

Only once (by restarting both the extender and the router that I had put close to one another) they were able to connect together. But after 5 or 10minutes it went off.. and the connection was lost . I never repeated this very small success again.

I tried the extender with another modem ( my fiber box) and it works well with it. It just not do work for the MR2100 which is an issue because I bought it specifically for it ?

Apparently I tested to late to benefit from netgear technical support.

Do  I need to change some configuration on the MR2100?

Did I do something wrong (but the setup is quite straightforward and I do not see what I could have done wrong)

Any suggestion is welcome

Regards

are you hardwiring the EX6250 into the M2 and setting the extender up in access point mode?

thats what I'd do.

the M2 is a mobile hotspot and the fcc limits its broadcast power significantly since it travels around. You might find that the extender provides plenty of coverage on its own.

Re: Issue setting up my netgear extender (ac1750 ex6250v2) and my netgear nighthawk M2 mobile 4G rou

Hello,

I tried the suggestion ( thanks for it ) and it did not work at all.

I reset the extender to  factory

I switch the button to access point

I connected the router to the nighthawk mobile modem 4G LTE M2( MR2100) and tried to do the setup

I finally accessed the extender and did the setup but :

-> no way to have a working connexion between the extender and the modem ( and the RJ45 cable works perfectly, the lights were on on the connectors on both sides)

When I am connected to the modem M2 , I do not reach the extender

When I am connecrted to the extender , it does not reach the modem

I did another test with another extender (from another brand) and it worked like a charm with the M2.

So this is very bothering.

I have a 4G Modem MR2110 from netgear and and extender from the same brand and they just do not work together when they work with other devices from other brands . This is frustrating  as I bought the extender specifically to work with the MR211.

Any suggestion is welcome

Regards

When the extender is in ap mode, is it broadcasting a wifi ssid you can connect to? You still need to set it up.

Maybe click it over to ap mode, push factory reset while powered on for 15 seconds, then go through setup on it. During setup, at some point it'll ask you to connect to the m2, at that point, connect it.
