Mismatch security key

I'm trying to install my ex6100 extender without success. Everything ok until I enter my wireless security key and I get the message that it is mismatched.
I know I'm entering the right key. I used WPS to install and a BTHomeHub 3A router. The Router Link LED light is solid green and the power LED is solid green and no other lights blinking! The extender is only 3 feet from my router as I try to install and my security is WPA and WPA2.
I would appreciate any help.

  • Are you on Extender Mode or AP mode?

    If Extender Mode:
    1. Connect to the EX6100 wired.
    2. Access the GUI through mywifiext.net or 192.168.0.250.
    3. Check wireless Setting or Retype passphase to be sure.
    4. Make sure Ex6100 is still connected to the router's SSID.

    If AP mode:
    1. Check if you get valid IP.
    2. If valid, access the GUI to check the wireless settings or modify it.
    3. If invalid, reset the EX6100 and reconnect using the default SSID NETGEAR_EXT which is an unsecured network. Then access the GUI through mywifiext.net or 192.168.0.250.

Let me know if this works.
  • Thanks for reply Storm 2003
I attempted several times to do as you suggested both with the mywifiext.net and the 192.168.0.250 but each time I got 'web page unavailable' when trying to connect to the extender's GUI (I am using the Ex6100 in extender mode!)
With one attempt Windows said that there was a conflict with the IP address, ie the same IP address- even though they are different IP addresses.
Perhaps my next step is to contact my internet provider, BT and find out if the router is compatible with my extender. Any other advice welcome
    Thanks

  • You are welcome eviesgranny.

Unable to access the WEB UI of the extender is a big problem. If you can't access it wired or wireless I suggest you contact NETGEAR support to check if there is a hardware problem.
