packet loss and headaches

to verify, i have the r6700v3 but apparently that isnt a valid option.

anyways, i got this nighthawk router a while back and i havent used it in about a year due to the packet loss and latency issues i started getting one day. Today i decided to try it again and its still garbage.

For some unexplained reason my packet loss is through the roof and it lags like hell.

for reference, i did a packet loss test using this site: https://packetlosstest.com/

i ran two tests, one for fortnite and one for apex, since those are two of my most played shooters, and i have between 9 and 13% packet loss everytime (if im lucky, sometimes it'll say 99% lmao)

its worth noting that i have had no packet loss with my original router (i have had a little bit the last day or two but i blame that on the snow storm, plus my ISP probably got over FEET of snow)

I did a factory reset of the nighthawk and retested and its still bad. Not sure what i can do, if need be i can buy another router but i just need to know what will work with my internet package and my current modem from my ISP.

in event i need to buy another one, ill leave here my ISP modem and speed

currently i'm with WOW! and have 1gb package (so i can go to 1000mbps) and they gave me a technicolor docsis 3.1 wireless gateway.

If i can get this resolved somehow or even just get a new router under $200 that'd be great. Appreciate any time you can offer.

Not all manufacturer's bridge mode works properly. Try the modem in modem/router mode and put the netgear in AP mode. See if that works.

What modem is it connected to? (model number)

    Firwmare on the router?

What platform are you playing on?

How is the platform connected? wired/wireless, and if its wireless is it on 2.4ghz or 5ghz?

do you get the packet loss/latency issue if you're directly connected to the modem?

thanks for replying, here are my answers

      1. docsis 3.1 wireless gateway model CGA4234 (provided by my ISP)

      2. firmware is always latest. (i've tried downgrading firmware before, no success.)

      3. I play on xbox 99% of the time, and i can tell the packetloss thanks to fortnite's stats.

      4. my xbox is hardwired upstairs to the back of my modem (or nighthawk router if im trying to fix the packetloss.)

5.i honestly did not test, ill try setting up my nighthawk, plugging my cord into the docsis, and see if the issue persists.

i will update my post after i have tested (also sorry for a late reply, i gotta manually check when i get a reply.)

The CGA4234 is a modem/router combo device. Are you in a double nat? And by that is your netgear in AP mode?

or the CGA4234 in passthrough/modem only mode?
