Firmware Update v1.0.2.76 Nighthawk r7800, DCHP IP issue

Updated Firmware last night, and lost internet connection. Hours of troubleshooting, then speaking with Frontier FiOS, to come back to the cause: the router.

Internet works fine if directly connected to computer via Ethernet. Plug into router: no IP address pulled from DHCP. Internet worked fine before firmware update. ISP rebuilt data table, no luck.

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

These don’t do the trick locally. Packets being sent but not received now, could be the router not being able to receive since Firmware update?

Any ideas on how to get back online since Firmware Update tanked DHCP?
  • What frontier modem/gateway are you using?

Did you try a factory reset and reinstall of the router? any time there's an issue after a firmware change, a reasonable first step is to factory reset and do a clean install (not from backup). maybe an old setting is causing the issues.

      No gateway, connected directly router.

I have never had to factory reset after a firmware update before... I will try that.

You usually don't need to factory reset after firmware changes but sometimes it is needed if firmware changes enough or an old setting causes issues
