Has anyone figured out how to fix a bricked router out of the box
Bought a nighthawk router years ago before I was going to move. Moved a couple months later took it out the box instant orange light. Tried fixing it nothing worked and I was past best buys return window. Best Buy would not take it back and said to call Netgear. Called netgear and couldnt even get a person on the phone as I wasnt allowed tech support because i was past 90 days and they even refused to do anything well here I am broke 3 years later with an expensive ass router I would like to fix as my $60 tplink router finally went out. This is not fair that we are treated like this. I dont care if its years later I am still owed a router or my money back. If you dont feel this way then just dont even comment and go back to lubing up your netgear products you love so much. I just would like some help. I am very angry as am pretty tech savvy but I cannot with all my networking experienced get this to work. I tried updating with tftp to see if its a software problem but it just forces a restart of the router.

There a model # for this router? R or RAX?
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
Need to press the reset button for 30 seconds then release, then it send to PUT the command and upload the FW.
Make sure you enable tftp: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
Video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done:

I had a problem on a Windows 10 PC where this didn't work to use TFTP, so I switched to a WIndows 7 PC and the TFTP worked.
Mac TFTP: https://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0001247

Re: Has anyone figured out how to fix a bricked router out of the box
its a r7000p the most expensive one at its time. confused when you "then it send to PUT the command." Other then this cause I do not know what you mean I have done everything but its just always fails to connect to the router when i start a tftp in cmd or any third party program. I do get "Warning - Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network (such as an intranet or the Internet). They will not function properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks (such as one on your intranet and one on the Internet). Do you want to save this?" I have no idea if this messes with it or not? It does not fail instantly it at least tries for a minute before it says fail so i know it sees it and tries. and Yes my computer is only hooked up to this router and nothing else.

amber light usually means bad power adapter, try a different power adapter. You can also try to ping it and see if you get a response. Or its firmware could have somehow gotten corrupted and you can try to reload it with the tftp method.
