How do I deploy a VPN to my home network?

I am setting up a VPN for the first time on my home network.  I have a question about deploying the VPN service to other devices on my network. 

Can I setup Open VPN on just the router?  I was hoping I didn't have to install / setup on each one of my devices (laptop pc etc)

The help menu pulldown in the router suggest (to me anyway) it's required on any device which will be used to remote in not each device on the local LAN.
