Nighthawk AC1900 R6900P
Dear all,
I'm a student moved to Puerto Rico using an interet service called Liberty Internet. The internet range is not that strong and I'm currently using a TP-Link AC1750 extender. This helps out but I want to use my Netgear nighthawk AC1900 model R6900P as the extender. The current cable modem being used is an Arris TG2482 I've seen a few youtube tutorials but I am still struggling. I've ran the ethernet through but it does not pick up connection.
Is it possible to use this model as the extender, I would rather this than buy a new Netgear cable modem. Their technical support here says most other cable modems are compatible but they were hesitant. Will I see that much of an improvement difference? I am interested in knowing but if I could definitely replace the actual extender with the Nighthawk... it seems like a much better bet for signal in other rooms too.
Thank you.

The R6900 router only supports the following modes: Router, AP or Wireless Bridge mode, which bridge mode turns the router into a wireless client only. Does not support repeater or extender modes:

When you connect an ethernet cable between the Arris TG2482 and the Netgear R6900 it should work with the R6900 configured as a wired access point. The ethernet cable has to connect from one of the LAN ports on the TG2482 to the WAN port on the R6900.
