It current has firmware version 1.3.1.26 and Nighthawk mobile app informs me an update to 1.3.1.64_10.1.36 is avaialble. I ask it to install, the app says it completes and reboots, but then I get the same prompt again.
What do I need to do to get the firmware update to take?
thanks in advance

I would try manually doing the update. download the update, extract it, and then follow the manual install instructions from the manual.
I also recommend doing the update over a hardwired connection for the best results.
Ac2300 isn't a speed but based upon the firmware you posted, you probably have the R7000P?
here's where you'd get the firmware and manual.
