Nighthawk X10 R9000 doesn't appear to be using my preferred DNS
I am trying to use OpenDNS to filter websites on my network.
I have configured my router to the option "Use these DNS Servers" and entered the OpenDNS server values:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
However, when I apply these settings and check the DNS servers provided to each client PC, I see only 192.168.1.1 listed as the DNS servers. Also, when I use nslookup to resolve some known blocked site it fails to block the site. Is there any way I can resolve this?
I am using firmware version V1.0.5.40 but older firmware releases had a similar problem. Previously, I would use the debug.htm page to access the Router's terminal and adjust the resolv.conf/dhcp client file to fix this myself but the telnet access feature has been removed recently.
Thank you for the tip, I realized late last night that I hadn't updated my OpenDNS with my new public address. Once I did that, things started resolving for me.

1. unless you change the dns server on the device (phone, tablet, etc), it uses the router as the dns server. the router points the dns server request as the dns server you set. so on your devices, it'll show the router.
2. Are you using IPv6? If so, you also have to make sure to change the IPv6 dns server.
