Unable to connect to Netgear Server

I've recently been running into wifi-connectivity issues and decided to do a factory reset on my router. However, before doing the factory reset, I noticed that when I tried to check for a firmware update, it was unable to connect to the Netgear Server because there was no internet connection detected. Similarly, I ran into the same issue after I completed the factory reset, it was still unable to connect to the Netgear Server for the same reason. Which doesn't make any sense to me because I'm currently connected to the internet via ethernet cable. I'm not sure what's going on here. Are the Netgear Servers down for firmware updates? I'm not sure if this is a major concern, but I was like some reassurance.

You can ALWAYS manually do the update. Your firmware is quite old, but I don't recall having a problem like that with any version of firmware, INSTRUCTIONS HERE...

Windows 10 has a HOTSPOT feature. You might have that on? From a CMD prompt (Windows Key + R and enter CMD and press enter) enter netsh wlan show all. If you see HOSTED NETWORK enable and data then this is sharing your SSID. Otherwise another router nearby is using the SAME SSID... a Program like ACRYLIC will show you SSID's that can be seen. If you have the router on and see 2, well, there is another one.

Re: Unable to connect to Netgear Server
Have you tried any orher wifi devices to see if they work?
If the ssid or passphrease have changed the server would see or connect to the wifi network?
Which router do you have?
Which netgear server do you have?

Re: Unable to connect to Netgear Server
I have the R7000 Nighthawk AC1900. I've connected to the Netgear genie on my laptop and it encounters the same error when searching for firmware updates using the Netgear Server.
I've tested connection on multiple devices(phone, tablets, laptops) and they all have internet connection connected through wifi.
It's not a major issue in my eyes, as I know I can just manually update the firmware when I want. I was just worried because when I first purchases the router, I never encountered this error.

Re: Unable to connect to Netgear Server
What version of the firmware are you running? What OS are you on? What is the EXACT error returned?

Re: Unable to connect to Netgear Server
@AngryBenko Tried downgrading my router to 1.0.4.30 and used the auto firmware update through the GUI and I didn't experience the problem.
You may want to factory reset the router or you can always upgrade the firmware of the router manually by downloading the latest firmware.

Re: Unable to connect to Netgear Server
Thanks for the tip on ACRYLIC, what I thought to be my old SSID coming from my Nighthawk router was actually coming from my OLD router tucked away in a box.
