Re: X8 Dual Gigabit Ethernet Port Aggregation explained easily?
Dual Gigabit Ethernet Port Aggregation works by connecting the two, specially designated Ethernet interfaces into a single device (like a NAS or computer with dual Ethernet ports) that also supports port aggregation. The resulting connection logically behaves like a single, hypothetical 2 Gigabit Ethernet interface.
Of course, the X8 would not be able to send/receive a single 2 Gigabit traffic flow to/from that device, but multiple traffic flows could be combined together.

Re: X8 Dual Gigabit Ethernet Port Aggregation explained easily?
I like to think of it as the RAID 0 of the Ethernet world or you can think of it as running batteries in series. I currently have 4 banging together on a server! However unlike RAID 0 for hard drives, the Port teaming support failover or redundancy and works even if you lose anyone of the connections. Great at updating drivers without losing connectivity...
Cost is another huge benefit! Much cheaper than upgrading to a 10Gb infrastructure.
