I am also having a 5G wifi problem after updating to V1.0.9.14. 

Normally around 350MB/s on 5G, and now it looks like its locked on 40MB/s ish.

I'm going back to V1.0.9.12 so see if that works.

this is my last netgear product (unforunately). I will also cease to suggest netgear as a router for friends and family (Systems engineer here). For those of you that are tired of the wireless issues please look into flashing DD-WRT or Advanced Tomato firmware. They have a version available for the r7000 router that is far more feature friendly as well as functional at the very basics that should be default for a router.

I may give this suggestion a try as I am so tired of this freaking router.  If after flashing the firmware didn't work, I would go and get a Linksys router as a replacement.  I am going to do the same as you said that I will not ever suggest Netgear product to anybody and will advise them to stay away of that brand as a disease.

I look on the site and dd-wrt doesn't have one that supports Netgear R7000 model just yet 😞

Just updated, will see.  First couple speed tests on wired machine are slower... I hope I don't need to "factory reset" and do all my configuration again.

Did you have WiFi problems with V1.0.9.12_1.2.23 or V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 ?

Didn't have any problems with Wi-Fi. With 1.0.9.14 802.11ac for Russian region was fixed (on previous it was available only 600 Mbit speed, now 1300 Mbit as should be).

I would like to understand what has been changed or fixed in the latest version before i update. I am on V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 now. Sometimes the wifi speed drops under the 10Mbps but after a reboot of the router it's back at >90 Mbps.

.23 was not great but better. The .25 was horrible. My Wi-Fi just got dropped all the time with 5Ghz channel and the speed was terrible.

Speeds came back up after 10 minutes. Maybe some sort of update occurring in the background or QoS learning.

I also enabled Circle again and will watch speeds and stability.

So, after running for 8 hours my speeds are back down to around 60Mbps on both wifi and wired with Circle enabled. Seems like the circle issue still isn’t fixed.

I had to update to 1.0.9.18 an hour ago because also my old firmware version got the same problem again after 36 hours. I thought I had fixed it with an old V1.0.9.6_1.2.19 after flashing via the first FW ever. 3 resets and 3 old FW versions were not enough to make it it stable again.

I do not have the trust 1.0.9.18 is solving the 2.4GHz problem. I guess I have to buy a new router. Downtime is not acceptable anymore.

Just chiming in to say that I'm done with Netgear. I got this router when it first became available and I paid such a premium I refused to give up on it. I just kept thinking, "the next firmware will do the trick" only to be repeatedly disappointed. I'm going to give dd-wrt or tomato a whirl, but in the end, when the time comes for me to choose a new router or make a recommendation to a friend...never again, Netgear.

Trying to obtain a RMA to return the router and have been on the phone for more than 21 minutes, even though the prompt was saying that wait time is 5 minutes.  I guess, Netgear just let their customers hang dry.  Just in case any of Netgear engineer can see this, my case number is 29476358.  The router is just 3 months old and the warranty is still good until Sep. 03, 2018.  I had to hang up because I had to go some where and couldn't wait any longer.

My router died finally. Without hesitation, just bought a new brand router, bye-bye NETGEAR!

Asus RT-AC 86U or 88U, or RT-AC5300, all are good.

I go with RT-AC5300.
