Netgear Nighthawk X6S AC3000 Extender Disconnecting Solved
I've fought with this thing for months trying to discover why it would often disconnect from my computer when the computer woke from sleep, or even sometimes when the connection was live. I tried everything. Latest updates, regressing to an earlier firmware. EVERYTHING!!
The only way was to reboot the extender and then work for awhile until the next disconnect. This went on for months having to reset the extender at least once a day and sometimes multiple times. When it worked, it was great 150+ MBps etc. But then though on my MacBook Pro it wold show a wi-fi connection at the top of my screen. NOTHING. Other items had no problem with dropped connections (ROKU etc) and some iPhones, but my computer, which I used the most, had persistent problems. I had to reset the extender by physically turning it off and on at the power button. It's been over a year of this.
Then I heard that my router ( an ARRIS had a Puma chipset problem and was not recommended any longer). It did not seem to play well with the Netgear Extender. Tell me about it! Got a new Netgear router and have not had a problem since.
I've not had to reset the extender once in days. Dramatic change.
I'm not savvy enough to understand it, but there must be something in the protocol differences between Arris and Netgear to make a continuous, persistent problem.

- CapnBodyAspirantI am having similar issues. I’m using Nighthawk X6S as an extender for my ARRIS Surfboard SBG7580-AC. After a few hours some of the devices (not all) will lose connection to the internet. Sometimes the primary SID will not connect, but the guest network will have internet connectivity. I have to constantly restart the router to make it work. I have tried changing Firmware, with no luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello CapnBody,
Would you mind telling us the firmware version the extender is currently on and which devices happen to keep and lose connection?

I am the original contributor to this thread. My optimism was premature. The disconnects happen just as described above, but at a less frequent pace. My computer shows a connection. The Netgear program shows a connection, but there is no connection and nothing can be done. Other devices remain connected and operable (iPhones, Roku etc).
What is this, Netgear? I am also wondering if my MacBook Pro may be part of the problem. Surely you Titans can address this issue.
