Range extender with Nighthawk s8000

Question

&nbsp;I have a nighthawk S8000 in my garage hard wired to my existing&nbsp; Alta fiber modem. I want to have wifi in the garage for&nbsp; Alexa and other wifi only smart switches. Is there a range extender&nbsp; or something else ,I can plug into the S8000 to get wifi in the garage?

There's all kinds of stuff you could do.&nbsp;
You can hardwiring in either a router or an extender. They just need to be setup in access point mode.&nbsp;
Either would work.&nbsp;
I'm a fan of grabbing a router and using it in access point mode. then if something ever happens to your primary one, you have the backup to use.&nbsp;

Thanks,&nbsp;This helps. The rest of the house has a mesh system from Alta Fiber so I have good coverage in the actual house. . I didn't think a mesh neatwork would reach the garage for a good signal.&nbsp; Any recommendations on a router or extender to use to plug into the Nighthawk&nbsp; switch?

What mesh system does Alta use? You might just be able to hardwire in one of their satellites or pick up a used one for cheap.&nbsp;

I thought they used Eero so you might just be able to hardwire in one of their satellites. Pretty cheap option and keeps the mesh all the same

Alta fiber uses some Zyxel brad I never heard of. I'll spring for&nbsp; new mesh system after christmas. Alta charges about $15 a month for the 2 satellites, so I may get a system with 3 satellites and hard wire one in the garage to the Nighthawk switch.&nbsp;Thanks for the help!&nbsp;
