AC1200-R6220 VPN Passthrough
I have contacted my IT professional at work and they could not help me (just said "the router's blocking it"), so I have no other choice than to try and fix myself. I am not a computer whiz, but I can get by with guidance.
-VPN works when connected directly to modem.
-VPN does not work when connected to router but it HAS worked previously when conected to router, then one day stopped.
-I have done the "port forwarding" advice. See attached snip, not sure if I did it correctly.
-I am not sure what VPN software they are using. I know it uses "Wan Miniport (L2TP)". I have included snip of program symbol.
-It is the most recent firmware. I tried installing original firmware (1.0.0.14) and middle of the road (1.1.0.66). Neither allowed VPN to work.
-NAT filtered is "secured". I opened to see if it would fix. It didn't
-VPN Passthrough is enabled for IPSex, PPTP, and L2TP
-Respond to Ping on Internet Port is checked
Please help. I have so much work to do and can't access my work network. Thanks

Re: AC1200-R6220 VPN Passthrough
You can always cheat and put the computers IP address in the routers DMZ. This forwards everything to the router. not a safe option but it'd get you up and running. Everything between the work computer and work should be encrypted through the vpn anyway.

Re: AC1200-R6220 VPN Passthrough
Can you tell me how I can do that. Thank you.
Any idea on long-term solutions or why the router is doing this?

Long term solutions? work with your IT department or contact the vpn program support that they use for assistant setting the proper forwarding.

Re: AC1200-R6220 VPN Passthrough
IT is useless. Any idea on what that program is from the snip? I may have to do a lot of research and set up my own VPN.

Not off the limited info. Your IT department should at least be able to give you what vpn provider they use.

Re: AC1200-R6220 VPN Passthrough
I did the DMZ thing and had the traffic go to the IP address of this computer that I'm using and it didn't work. May I be doing something wrong?
