How to make an extender

I'd like to make my Netgear router into an extender of my ISP's required wifi router.  My Netgear router is the Nighthawk X4S AC2600 R7800

I've pressed every button in the app and didn't see anything to turn it into slave or extender mode.  I've also gone onto my mac and typed in the "192.168.1.1" and "www.routerlogin.net" with no success.  I don't get the login credential pop up that is supposedly supposed to pop up.  I just get a prompt telling me to use the app, and the app tells me to use the computer options.

Any help would be great.  Thank you!

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Depending on how you want to connect your router to the network, wired or wireless, look in the manual for something like Use the Router as a WiFi Access Point or Use the Router in Bridge Mode

   So, not this:

   Which "the app"?

> [...] I've also gone onto my mac and typed in the "192.168.1.1" and

You typed these things into some web browser or other?

> [...] with no success.

Which kind of "no success" was that?  As usual, showing actual
actions (commands) with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

Not a very detailed description of anything.

With a wired or wireless connection to your main router?

Is the R7800 connected to anything now?  If you connect an R7800
(WAN/Internet interface) to some other router, then it might choose a
LAN IP address different from its usual one ("192.168.1.1").

Rather than exploring some app or other, you might start with an
oft-neglected resource:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.
Look for "Use the Router as a WiFi Access Point" (for a wired connection
to the main router).  Or "extender", but expect disappointment.

@antinode
I posted the same note on Reddit and I got many replies from people that knew exactly what I was talking about and got me the fix. Thank you for the reply.
