r7000 192.168.1.1 didn't send any data

r7000 192.168.1.1 didn't send any data

I have an R7000 operating with firmware version V1.0.11.116_10.2.100

When I try to manually update the firmware (because automatic update does not work) to any version above V1.0.11.116_10.2.100 I get an error about 10 seconds into the download stating "192.168.1.1 didn't send any data"

I have tried a factory reset and I get the same results. I have tried disabling QoS and get the same results.

I have tried uploading an older version of firmware, as one of the other articles suggests, and I get the same results.

Not sure what to do now.  Any help would be appreciated.

Are you attempting this over a hardwired connectin? over wifi?

What device are you on?

Have you tried a different pc/laptop?

Have you tried a different web browser?

@andrewtmartin   Can only echo what @plemans has suggested.

You could also probably do yourself an enormous favour and buy a modern up to date router. Just read through the multiple threads about issues relating to the R7000 AC1900 and you might wonder whether it's worth the continued hassle. Sorry if that's a rather negative response, but I've gone from initially being quite a fan of the R7000, to now rather loathing it enough to buy an new AX router with a more user friendly GUI.

Thank you for the tips. I was able to get the update to install by using a different computer. I am not sure why this should make a difference, but it did.

I was accessing the router via hardware internet connection in both cases. Using Chrome updated to most recent version, and Windows 10 on the computer.

glad it worked!

Usually if a pc is having issues with a specific browser, a different one will work. Or clearing cache/cookies can work.

I think you are correct. This is the second R7000 router I have had, and the first one started giving me big trouble after about 2 years. I ended up replacing it, and after about 1 year the replacement started giving me trouble.

I might have to bight the bullet with regard to the complicated configuration I have, and replace with a new model. Thanks for the advice.
