r9000 port forwarding
hello I'm having trouble forwarding ports on a r9000 I'm trying to forward ports for Nvidia game stream I've gone through the steps to manually forward the ports and have even shut off any firewals that might get in the way.
im currently in souther california and my isp is spectrum, I have a technicolor modem with them but no router, I've also had trouble at a friends home forwarding ports, however spectrum says that they block no ports and that since I have my ow router they can't asist me in setting up the port forwarding service.
the pc I'm trying to forward is runing windows 10 its connected to the router though an ethernet switch.
any suggestions or Ideas on how to fix the problem are greatly appreciated
turns out it might have either been a bug with my windows 10 install or even the nvidia software it self I reinstalled windows along with the Nvidia Geforce software and it worked thanks for the help

If your configuring Port Forwarding, disable uPnP. uPnP should work with out using any PF configurations.
You can also try setting NAT Filter from Secure to OPEN and see if this helps. I would do with with uPnP only and no PF configurations first and test.

I turned on uPnP and removed the PF configs, set NAT to open, didnt work
Im using canyouseeme.org and portchecker.co to check the ports, both say theyre closed, and canyouseeme says Reason: Connection refused
I'm also using the actual moonlight app to see if my pc is seen off my local connection using my lte, on my local connection it works fine
I'm trying to forward these ports
- TCP 47984, 47989, 48010
- UDP 5353, 47998, 47999, 48000, 48002, 48010

When checking for port status, are you actively using the application or program that is supposed to be using the ports? You have to some something running at the time your checking the port status...
What is the Mfr and model # of the ISP modem?
> [...] I've gone through the steps to manually forward the ports [...]
It's nice that you think that you've done the right things, but that
non-description conveys no useful informtion to the non-psychics in your
audience about what you did. As usual, showing actual actions with
their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more
helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.
Which ports are you trying to forward? To what? Why? Copy+paste
your port-forwarding rules here. How did you determine that port
forwarding was not working?
Is your "Nvidia game stream" server accessible from within the LAN?
If you can't talk to the server from within the LAN, then all the port
forwarding in the world won't help you talk to it from the outside
world.

So, the WAN/Internet IP address of the R9000 is your public IP
address?
> [...] I've also had trouble at a friends home forwarding ports, [...]
I'm sorry to hear that whatever you did there didn't work, either,
but that non-description conveys no useful informtion to the
non-psychics in your audience about what you did there, either.

Ok. What steps have you taken to ensure that your Windows 10 system
is at the IP address which you must have specified in your
port-forwarding rules? Reserved address? Static address?- xxjahasotoxxAspirant
I had replied to this before but it didnt post for some reason,
so this is how I forward ports
first set a reserved IP Advanced Tab>Setup>LAN Setup>Address Reservation>Add>PcNameHere, IP is 192.168.1.3
Then to actually PF Advanced Tab>Advanced Setup>Port Forwading/Port Triggering>Add Custom Service> set name, TCP 47984, 47989, 48010 check box that says use same ports for internal range and then repeat for UDP 5353, 47998, 47999, 48000, 48002, 48010.
I'm trying to forward these ports
- TCP 47984, 47989, 48010
- UDP 5353, 47998, 47999, 48000, 48002, 48010
its to a windows 10 Pc and its for Nvidia game stream it lest you stream games to your phone using an nvidia graphics card
Im using canyouseeme.org and portchecker.co to check the ports, both say theyre closed, and canyouseeme says Reason: Connection refused
I'm also using the actual moonlight app to see if my pc is seen off my local connection using my LTE
on my local connection it works fine
all the port checking sites and IP sites give my routers IP as a Public IP
Ive disabled firewall and Antivirus (windows defdender, no other AntiV) on the PC just to rule those out
Ive also ran these commands that add exceptions to firewall
- Open a Command Prompt or PowerShell window as administrator
- Run the following 2 commands:
- netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="GameStream UDP" dir=in protocol=udp localport=5353,47998-48010 action=allow
- netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="GameStream TCP" dir=in protocol=tcp localport=47984,47989,48010 action=allow
I only metion that it didnt work at my friends house either because with my previous ISP, TWC this was working, however now that Spectrum acquired them ive been uable to forward those ports, and when i had their router they where unable to succesfully open those ports.
I've since got rid of their router now have a modem that they provide, and my nighthawk, which feeds the switch and goes to my pc
