My current setup is RBR850 router with two RBS850 satellites, one wireless and the other ethernet. I want to add a third satellite via ethernet but the port currently is wired to a desktop. Is a solution a splitter (or switch or some other device) from the port to the desktop and new satellte. What make and model would best be suited? The input wifi signal is 490 mbps
Ok so you have a wall LAN jack that comes from the down stairs RBR correct?
If so, then you can place a RBS at this location and connect the wall jack to the RBS here. Then use the free additional ports on the back of the RBS to connect other wired devices to the RBS...
Or you can place a Gb LAN switch as this wall jack and then connect the PC and RBS to this all jack.
THe proposed location of the new satellite is an upstairs room with an ethernet plug (rather than port) hardwired from the downstairs Orbi router. That plug in turn is currently hardwired to the desktop that I want to retain. I want to hardwire the new satellite from that same plug. Hence the need for two lines via a splitter, switch or some other device.
