New SXR50 / SXS50 Firmware Version 4.3.0.140 Released

New Features: 

  • Adds support for the Domotz network monitoring app 
  • Adds a button on the Attached Devices page to remove a connected satellite and reset it to factory default settings
  • A satellite previously paired with a different router might remain in Config Sync status, so the Sync Failed message now instructs users to reset the satellite so it can be paired with a new base
  • Supports disabling Wireless 1
  • Supports mDNS service
  • Adds the router serial number under ROUTER INFORMATION
  • Adds static routes to support NAT translation for indirect subnets
  • Supports WPA2/WPA3-mixed mode in wireless networks 1 - 3

Enhancements:

  • Improves overall performance by redesigning the software architecture. UI response and throughput are improved when many clients are connected.

 

Bug Fixes:

  • Removes WPS functionality due to security concerns. WiFi clients can no longer use WPS to connect to a WiFi network (SSID)
  • Fixes an issue in Business VPN where devices behind the central router cannot access devices under behind the remote router
  • Fixes an issue where the wireless 1 configuration is not synced to the satellite when WPA2/WPA3 Mixed mode is enabled. 
  • Fixes issue with guest portal pop up not working in iOS 15
  • Fixes an issue that can prevent the guest portal from displaying
  • Fixes an issue where the NTP server can be blocked by ISPs in the U.S.
  • Fixes a configuration conflict between Insight and Standalone settings

Known Issues:

  • After updating the router firmware, existing clients can be steered to the router because the wireless readiness in the router is faster than the wireless readiness in the satellite.
    Workaround: Connected clients might notice slower throughput or a weaker signal, which resolves when the user roams or reconnects.  
  • WPA3-Enterprise might not work with iPhone 11 (supports 802.11ax) and above on iOS 14 and above.
    Workaround: Do not use WPA3-Enterprise.
  • The device UI can be accessed via the default VLAN network only.
    Workaround: Connect to a WiFi network that uses the default VLAN profile when you want to access the device UI.

 

Warnings:

  • If WPA2/WPA3 Mixed mode is enabled, reapply wireless 1 configuration after upgrading the firmware.
  • We do not recommend downgrading to previous firmware because of potential configuration compatibility issues. If a downgrade must be performed for any reason, perform a factory reset after installing the older firmware, and then reconfigure the device.

Firmware Update Instructions:

If the Orbi Pro WiFi 6 devices are connected to the Insight cloud, perform firmware updates automatically through the firmware schedule policy, or manually perform a firmware update using the Insight app or device UI.

To update Orbi Pro WiFi 6 router or satellite firmware from the device UI, follow the instructions in your product’s user manual. To find your user manual, visit https://www.netgear.com/support/, enter your model number in the search box, and click Documentation on the product page. We highly recommend updating the SXS50 satellite firmware first and then updating the SXR50 router firmware. 

After updating to the latest firmware, make sure to update your version of the NETGEAR Insight app for the best functionality and user experience.
