RBR853 - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra / S25 Ultra - doesn't like to play
Hi All,
So, I have had my RBR853 system since 2022 and it works pretty good and is used in AP mode connected to my service provider's router at the moment, that's a EE Smart Hub Plus (wifi6) with a 1GB fibre connection.
Out of the box, connecting directly to the hub (no orbi system), for both my S23 Ultra and S25 ultra speeds are around the 700-800mb immediately adjacent to the hub and drop to around 400-500mb away from the hub. Sometimes, this can be a little flaky.
My S23 Ultra, connects to the orbi mesh system just fine and on average, I get around 500-600mb download when checking the speed wherever I am in the house, great. However, my S25 Ultra does not like the mesh system. On checking the speed, it averages around 200-250mb, doesn't matter where I stand in relation to the orbi rout or satellite.
Hardware Version | RBR850 |
Firmware Version | V7.2.6.31_5.0.24 |
GUI Language Version | V3.0.3.10_2.1.30.3 |
Operation Mode | AP |
I have tried:
- Rebooting the orbi system
- Changing the 5 and 2.4GHz channels
- Changing the level of security
- Factory reset the orbi system
- Set up the orbi system via the laptop as opposed to the app
- Rebooted the EE router
- EE router wifi signal turned off
- Satellites are on a different floor to the main orbi router and more than 10m apart
- and to top it all, I managed to snap the locating lug on the power adapter for the socket pins and Netgear as we all know don't do spares FFS.
It's a bit of a whine, but looks like it's a no and I am now thoroughly fed up and ready to can it. Anyone else having this kind of trouble?

Re: RBR853 - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra / S25 Ultra
Is the S25 new addition to the system?
Seems like of this unit is new and doesn't work as good as the other unit, maybe something on the S25.
Be sure that the devices are connected to the closes RBR or RBS before speed testing. Some devices will still hold on and stick to farther signals thus giving slower speeds instead of being connected to nearest signal source.
Had everything worked before the FW update?
Been posts regarding v.31 not working well for users. v.21 is most stable to date.
Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Any progress on this?
New FW is out:
Please update and check. May need a facory reset and setup from scratch to ensure a good take on the new FW and see if all works better for you.
