(SOLVED) Connect ORBI 750 to QUANTUM Century/Brightspeed no PPP
My device is actually an RB750 mesh but there was no model pull-down.
I decided to post this for any of you trying to bypass the Century Link / Brightspeed gateway and connect directly to their ONT. I had a hard time finding info and getting tech support with them.
But for what is worth the solution was very simple. First, the issue:
Brightspeed installs the optical network terminal (ONT), fiber goes in, ethernet goes out. That cable gets connected to the "WAN" port on their router.
I took my RSR750, powered off both router and ONT, restarted, connected the ONT cable to my router and never connected nor got IP.
orbilogin . net kept indicating "waiting" on the INTERNET PORT and ended up with steady magenta light.
The Internet Port tile was showing error, not getting IP nor gateway/domain info.
I had done some research and remembered that installation guy had mentioned Brightspeed/Century used "VLAN 201" confirmed that in my case all that was required was to Now, . I was not clear if there was additional info needed (e.g. PPP account and such). In fact tech person told me that in some locations that is a requirement but in my location in NC "is not required"... so your situation may be different.
This is what I did in my router:
1)Login with your account and password.
2)Clicked tab ADVANCED > ADVANCED > scroll down until you see VLAN / Bridge Settings (the URL will show as "orbi login VLAN_IPTV htm" where IPTV was referenced in a you tube video I had watched)
2)Turned on "Enable VLAN / Bridge Setup"
3)Selected "By VLAN tag group" (a line should already be showing, select it for editing), click on EDIT button, make sure it is enabled.
4)Changed the VLAN ID to 201 and save.
5)Clicked on APPLY at the top and system will save configuration.
Immediately after that router started blinking white lite (slow) and at some point no more light.
At that point, I checked the INTERNET PORT tile and was green, IP assigned and all that.
Last, I did a speed test and it was a bit over the contracted speed (fiber, symmetric).
Happy camper... want to share this with you all as there is a lot of confusing info out there.

Thanks for posting this.
Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
