Can't get RBK53 set up with Xfinity XB6

I bought a RBK53 and am having trouble setting it up.

I put the XB6 into Bridge Mode and then went through the setup process with Orbi. When I got to the screen where Orbi looks for an internet connection, it said it wasn't receiving one. The light on top of the Orbi was glowing magenta.

I called Netgear support and they had be connect my laptop directly to the XB6. I could not connect to the internet. Netgear said that this suggests there may be a problem with the XB6 hardware.

As a possibly related side note, when the XB6 was in Bridge Mode, I connected my laptop to it via Ethernet and tried to login to the admin control panel to disable it. I tried both http://192.168.100.1 and http://10.0.0.1 and wasn't able to establish a connection to the XB6.

Just wanted to check here and confirm that others who are using Xfinity as their ISP have been able to successfully use Orbi with their XB6 in Bridge Mode?

If so, then it would seem that Netgear is right that there may be a hardware issue with my XB6.

A couple things you could try.

Whenever you change a modem's settings, you'll want to reboot it afterwards.

So try powering off both the orbi and xb6.

Power on the xb6 with nothing connected to it.  Give it a few minutes.

then connect 1 cable from the xb6 to the wan port of orbi.

then power on the orbi. give it a few minutes to fully boot. see if it works.

don't connect anything else to the xb6, only the orbi. Maybe its kicking itself out of bridge mode if more than 1 device plugs into it.

If that doesn't work, you could try leaving the xb6 in router mode, disable its wifi, and place the orbi in AP mode.
