Change Orbi Router to 2.4G vs. 5G
I have an Orbi router with 2 satellites, I want to only us 2.4G since some of my connected devices cannot use 5G, but my Orbi seems to be broadcasting in 5G although 1 of 2 of my satellites says 2G. ...

You can disable the 5Ghz SSID broadcast if you really want to. Most devices if they only support 2.4Ghz, will not or do not care about any 5Ghz and will not even connect to the 5Ghz radio. They will only connect to the 2.4Ghz radio. Some setup of the devices don't allow the setup mobile device to be on 5Ghz while the actual device sets up on 2.4Ghz. This is a Mfr flaw. So if you can't get the setup software to work correctly, try disabling the 5Ghz radio and see if you can get the devices connected. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings. Uncheck the Enable 5G SSID broadcast.

My device settings only shows the Orbi router, not individual satellites. Is there a way for my Orbi router to only use 2.4G instead of 5G?
- FramorAug 27, 2019AspirantI appreciate the information, however, I can’t find options in the ORBI app to make changes. I didn’t change my satellite router settings to only broadcast in 2.4Ghz, then reinstalled Orbi router and satellites. Needless to say, one of the Orbi satellites says 5Ghz, while the other one says 2.4Ghz. My SONOS system still will not connect since it sees the WIFI as 5Ghz...the Orbi app doesn’t give me options to make the change, I don’t know of any other way to control the Orbi router other than the app.

You have to log in to the RBRs web page using a PC and web browser to make changes to the RBR. I would turn OFF The RBSs while you do this and get the device connected. Once it's connected and all setup, re-enabled the 5G SSID name and then turn on the RBS's.
