Did you try using AP mode with the Orbi router behind the VPN router?
Whats the IP address pool that the VPN uses? 192.168.1.#?

If I do can I put a VPN on the Orbi?

Yes you can walk the set up wizard and skip any set up steps for the internet with a Ethernet cable connected PC.

Starting to get above my pay grade. I bought the system assuing it would be pretty simple. I have a Tenda Nova now and it set up effortlessly behind the VPN router. Clearly the Orbi is another thing all together. Am going to try connecting directlyto my modem and going back to turning on a VPN on all devices. A pain but easier I think.

Yes the Orbi has it's own router so if you have another already in front, then could be a problem.
Hope the Modem is a modem only. Modem only is preferred.
Let us know how it goes.
