ORBI RBR50 Does not work w/Verizon 4G LTE Home Router

I have switched mode to AP, and it shows all the devices, verizon router sees the ORBI, but nothing can actually get to the internet that connects to the ORBI.  ORBI is connected from its yellow internet port to LAN port on LTE Router.  Some how I managed to get things connected for about an hour before intenet died.  I have no issues if I connect a device directly to the LTE router LAN port.

I'd ask Verizon tech support if external wifi systems are supported on there router.

  • MSWENSON I'm having the exact same expereince with the same setup you have. I can get the RBR50 to work in AP mode for a short time and then I can no longer get access to the internet. All devices stay connected and I can get to the Verizon Router through the Orbi and the Verizon router can ping the internet.

I know the Verizon router allows external connections because others in the Verizon forums have gotten it to work with Google Mesh setups. Oner person who has gotten their Google Mesh to work turned on the DMZ function in the verizon router. I did that as well, but it did not cure the problem.

Hoping someone within the Netgear community might have a solution/suggestion.

    Thanks!

  • MSWENSON , I finally figured out how to get my Netgear Orbi connected to the Verizon 4G LTE home router. Here are the details in case you haven't gotten yours working yet.

I enabled the DMZ and turned off all the WiFi on the LTE Router. I tried putting the Orbi in both AP and Router mode. AP mode would sometimes allow a short amount of access to the internet but only a few mins then it would stop. I really wanted to use the Orbi as a router to manage DHCP so I turned off DHCP on the LTE router and put the Orbi in Router mode. However, I still couldn't access the internet through the Orbi.

What I finally discovered to get this it all to work properly was I had to turn off all the ALG security settings which are under "NAT Forwarding->ALG" in the LTE Router. I stumbled upon these settings in the router and did a some internet searching and from what I learned, none of these settings were needed, so I turned them off as a way to see if perhaps they were causing the router to block traffic from my Orbi router. Sure enough, they seemed to be the culprits. After disabling them, all my devices were able to get to the internet through my Orbi and speedtest download is faster than ever! I'm now getting consistent 50Mbps down from all locations in my house and it's been stable without requiring any reboots for a couple days now. The upload speeds are still somewhat shaky, but seem to avg between 2 and 4 Mbps. Acceptable but not ideal for multiple video chats or gaming sessions but that's not a common occurrence in my house, Yet.

    Hope this helps you!

It worked for a few hours, but then started failing.  Right now I have all the ALG settings on LTE Hmoe Router disabled, DMZ enabled with the client being the RBR50. ORBI shows a good internet connection, but nothing can get there on wireless network.  It seemed to be working until I re-connected my Brother MFC-L2707DW printer.  I think that was just a coincidence because I could not get internet back even after powering it down and rebooting ORBI.   Since I have not cancelled my old internet provider I can switch back and everything works, so it has to be something with LTE Home Router.  I am trying to switch to the LTE service because it costs less then half what I pay now, and I will not have fiber for 18 to 24 months.

Another reason why I would not use Verizon internet unless I can use my own router and they keep theirs
