Buffering Issues

I replaced my ORBI RBR50 mesh system with ORBI 970 Series WiFi 7.  When playing or streaming videos, it keeps buffering and I have to turn WiFi off and switch back to 5G Network.  It's annoying.  Not sure why this happens.  I have 2 satellites installed.  I never had this issue with ORBI RBR50.  I also heard that apple's new IOS has issues with WiFi and they need to come up with a fix.  Not sure how much of that is true.  Looking for some advice, thanks.

Re: Buffering Issues

Hello @Stallion69,

I understand that you are having issues with your RBE971 with video streaming. We have a new firmware for the North American region that may resolve this issue. At your earliest convenience, please upgrade to firmware version 9.12.4.16. Please be sure to upgrade the firmware on the attached satellites before the router.

Firmware Version 9.12.4.16 for RBE970/971 download link:

Re: Buffering Issues

What devices are you using to play or stream videos with? Brand and model please.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite ‌‌🛰

Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Try disabling the following and see:

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.

Try option #2 first...

For this size of home, only the RBR unit and just one RBS would be needed. Having two RBS deployed maybe causing problems. Lets turn OFF one RBS for now.

Re: Buffering Issues

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
