ATT BGW210-700 intermittently drops ethernet connection to Orbi RBR50v2 AP Mode

I have  ATT Gigabit fiber that has worked well with Apple Extreme products that are long in the tooth.  Orbi RBR50v2 firmware 2.5.1.8 is connected via ethernet to LAN #1 on ATT Router. I did not get a yellow cable as per install guide, but believe I'm using the Netgear cable.

I experience frequent loss of Internet connection.  It eventually comes back on it's own. I get the same results whether satellite is present or not.

Orbilogin Basic tab shows Internet as Good but tab is grayed out.  ATT assigns 192.168.1.252 to Orbi Router.   ATT Router shows over 5 hours since last reboot. ATT DHCP is on with 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.253 range.  Lease is set at 99 days. I have the opportunity to allocate the same IP addresas to the Orbi.

Can it be that when the ATT Router reboots that the Orbi looses connection?  And takes a while to recover. It never affected the Apple router.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: ATT BGW210-700 intermittently drops ethernet connection to Orbi RBR50v2 AP Mode

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last update?

What mode is your using. I believe it's router mode and it can't be bridged.

This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Please give option #2 a try first...

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Factory reset done.  Appreciate your answer, but not my problem.  Not sure you read my issue. I've read your answer before.  I'm in AP Mode on the Orbi. Mine is not a WiFi but an ethernet issue between the AT&T modem and the Orbi.  Timing, DHCP refresh, who knows?  Thanks.

Well thats why we asked, we don't know what you have configured with the modem for sure, so we didn't want to assume. Some factory resets are needed after a FW update.  Has been known to resolve some issues, Regardless of wifi or non wifi. Had to make sure what mode your modem was in since you didn't initially meantion it.

Do a seach here in the forums for your model modem. there have been others posting about it.

Good Luck.
