Apple Airport as extender - no local network
Hi. I have setup my Orbi and satellite and all are working well. I’d like to extend the network to the garage which is some distance from the house. There is an Ethernet cable. I have connected an Apple Airport in Bridge mode and this allows me to access the internet just fine. The IP address of the clients in the garage shows as being on the main house network. However, I can’t access any of the computers on the main Orbi network in the house through the Airport.
This worked fine when I was all Apple (but the home part of the network was flakey).
What at am I missing here?
thanks guys
Thanks Guys
Just an update on what worked - seems the Orbi needed a firmware update. Once this was done everything played nice, without changes to my initial settings on the Airport.
My settings on the Airport (connected by ethernet to the Orbi via a switch):
Router mode: Off(Bridge Mode)
Network Mode: Create a Wireless Network
SSID/Password: Same as the Orbi network
Internet Connection: DHCP
Cheers
Paul

Try setting up the Apple Airport in LAN to LAN AP mode instead of bridged.

You'll want to set up the Airport Extreme in the Airport Utility as extending the network. You will need to match the SSID and passwords you configured on the Orbi.
