Cannot connect to my Scanner TS9120 - printing works fine
I have a Mac - OS/X 11.1 (Big Sur).
I have a Canon TS9120 printer/scanner.
Prior to migrating to my Orbi RBR850, I used an Airport router without issues.
Now, my printing is fine.
Now, my scanning doesn't work - no connection - can't find.
Same result from my TS9120 to the Mac, and from the Mac to the scanner.
Canon suggests to unblock these ports:
Port Purpose
TCP 80 | For HTTP communication |
TCP / UDP 161 | For SNMP communication (MAXIFY Printers) |
TCP / UDP 162 | For SNMP communication (MAXIFY Printers) |
TCP 443 | For HTTPS communication such as cable-less setup operation (Applicable models only) |
TCP / UDP 515 | For printing using LPR protocol |
TCP / UDP 9100 | For printing using Raw protocol |
TCP / UDP 1900 | For Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) operation |
TCP / UDP 5222 | For Google Cloud Print and PIXMA Cloud Link |
TCP / UDP 5357 | For acquiring the printer information (WSDAPI) |
TCP / UDP 8611 | Canon BJNP port for printing |
TCP / UDP 8612 | Canon BJNP port for scanning (Applicable models only) |
I can't tell if 8612 is open - not sure how to determine that. I'm assuing my connection issue is related to the Orbi as there was no issue with the previous router. Being such a N00Bie to this, I'm not sure what to do next.

Netgear set up a community forum specifically for the new "AX" systems, like the RBR850. If the question is posted in that forum, people who own that product are more likely to offer suggestions:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-AX/bd-p/en-home-orbi-ax
Second, "opening ports" refers to gaining access to a device from outside, not from a computer that is also connected locally.
My first step would be to assign an IP to the printer using the Orbi web interface (http://orbilogin.net). On the Advanced Tab, Setup, LAN Setup. Enter the MAC address of the printer and designate that it always get the same IP address (the one it already has is fine).
The problem is almost certainly in the Mac print/scan software. Perhaps the scan part "remembers" the IP address that the printer had when connected to the Airport router?
