amule installation and starting problem
Hi all,
i've found a problem un my RN104:
when i try to start amule (manually installed with the right arm package) the NAS system switch it off automatically after a few seconds and give me the following code error: 22002010000. I opened a ticket on NETGEAR support because i can't install the apps from the gui, i must install them manually to have a non-faulty installation, but another app (such antivirus plus) works well, and amule doesn't work even if the manual installation worked fine. can you give me some infos about this error code? i can provide also the config archive if can be helpful. I tried also on my company's readynas (that is a RN102 with same OS of mine) and amule got the same problems to start...maybe some bug...Any ideas?
Thanks very much...
Kind Regards
Filippo

Re: amule installation and starting problem
What version of ReadyNAS OS?
If you can't install via Available Apps that suggests your NAS has a problem connecting to the internet, which means it won't be able to download dependencies.

Re: amule installation and starting problem
Hi, thanks for the reply, first of all.
Nas os is 6.1.8, the last one...
I think that if there is a problem on the internet connection the nas should not update also antivirus defenitions, and it has no problem doing this 😞 My internet connection quality is really good, it's a 4Mb down and 0.4Mb up, with a ping between 1 and 10 ms. It's wimax based and the isp node is fibre-cabled...
There are other features that can stop the automatic installation?
Also there is the problem that the manual installation goes well, but the application doesn't starts and give me that error code...
Thanks very much...

Re: amule installation and starting problem
I have ReadyNas312 and here amule worked fine on 6.1.8 but as soon as updated it to 6.1.9 started to give the same error when initialising the application. I've removed amule and its folder, reinstalled and I still get the same error 22002010000.
I have been considering go back to 6.1.8 if this is possible but would like to know first if someone uses amule with 6.1.9 firmware.

Re: amule installation and starting problem
Hi, I think the problem is not the firmware version, i'll explain:
I've performed a factory reset after installation of the first firmware disponsable (6.1.1). Performed the Factory reset i've installed amule manually from package for ARM. Amule started to work fine. After this (without change any setting or adding condivision) i did the reboot, and amule didn't work at all. so I have updated the formware at the last disponsable (6.1.9), removed amule and reinstalled it, but didn't work. So i did the factory reset a second time with the last firmware this time, installed amule and worked O_o. I did the reboot then and...surprise! it' doesen't works!...same error when i try to start it: 22002010000. I thought that was a problem of ARM-based app, but your NAS is intel based so it can't be... Someone knows Please wich is the problem for this error code??? I've noticed also that after the restart the amule application did not appear in the list of installed apps, the one which is in the main page. Is correctly shown in the list of installed applications in the tab "applications". I can't understand it...There is the developer or someone that can help us?
Thanks
Filippo

Re: amule installation and starting problem
Ok, I will avoid doing the Factory reset then, thanks Filippo.
Netgear support told me to contact the developer but I have no idea how neither I think he has any obligation to give us support on the issue.
"I appreciate your comments and suggestions but, I honestly think that it is the app developer who should keep up with the ReadyNAS. It is similar to any other products just for example, a software for Windows, if the software is not compatible with a Windows OS, it is not Microsoft who will going to adjust but the software developer. Same goes with the ReadyNAS."
I thought they should take more responsibility in making sure the apps work in their machine but they are probably right and the mistake was mine.

Re: amule installation and starting problem
I found a solution for this issue. it seems to be in the amule.conf.
when you install the app, it creates a copy of the /root/.aMule dir to /data/amule. amule.conf is not configured to accept connections.
Copy the following conf on both root and data amule dir.

Re: amule installation and starting problem
Stop and restart the application.
Check if amule is starting with the right parameters:
ps aux | grep amule
You should find 2 processes
amuleweb --amule-config-file=/data/amule/amule.conf
/usr/bin/amuled -c /data/amule/
Sometimes amuleweb crash and you have to restart it.
To avoid to restart it manually installa monit.
apt-get install monit
Modify the file monitrc under /etc/monit
put the following lines
check process aMule with pidfile /data/amule/muleLock
if failed host localhost port 4711 then exec "/usr/bin/amuleweb --amule-config-file=/data/amule/amule.conf"
if web server is not available on port 4711 it will restart the process.
let me know if this can solve your issue. I'm not remembering exactly all the steps to restore amule.

Re: amule installation and starting problem
Hello!
I have to come back on this issue.
ReadyNas 6.2.1
N104
I am able to install Amule from the web interface, but when I click ON it will give error message code error: 22002010000 and come back to OFF.
if I try ps aux | grep amule
the output is
root 8687 0.0 0.1 4140 804 pts/0 S+ 15:18 0:00 grep amule
there is no .aMule directory in /root/
Can somebody help? I really would like to use Amule on the server side of my NAS.

Re: amule installation and starting problem
Ok, just to let other people with the same problem know that I was able to get aMule up and running.
There are 2 commands you need to launch, as crazy72 reported:
amuleweb --amule-config-file=/data/amule/amule.conf &
/usr/bin/amuled -c /data/amule/ &
the program should be started with the "&" suffix, running in background
in my case "monit" program did not work, so I created an executable script and made it start at boot using rc.d
Enjoy aMule on ReadyNAS!

Re: amule installation and starting problem
Since my knowledge are very limited I just reboot the readynas to factory, now amule works again on the latest firmware which is 6.2.2, let's see what will happen when will update the firmware again.
