I've noticed that 6.0x NAS users have a built in defragmentation utility, is there a similar add-on utility for firmware 5.3x users?

No (at least not one one I know of).
The ext file system used in the older NAS generally doesn't suffer from fragmentation if you've maintained 10% free space.
