backup to goflex home via rsync error
Hi,
Has anyone successfully backed up via rsync from the readynas nv+ v2 to a Goflex Home?
I get the following error msg
Both devices are using the same DNS and I can access both devices from my computer.
Any suggestions are most appreciated.
Thanks
johk
Has anyone successfully backed up via rsync from the readynas nv+ v2 to a Goflex Home?
I get the following error msg
rsync: failed to connect to 192.168.0.10 (192.168.0.10): Connection refused (111)
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(122) [sender=3.0.9]
Backup failed. Wed Nov 7 20:49:39 EST 2012.
Reason for failure:
Error encountered copying data from source path /Marist_New/ ==> 192.168.0.10::GoFlex Home Backup due to unknown reason. Please see log.
Both devices are using the same DNS and I can access both devices from my computer.
Any suggestions are most appreciated.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe GoFlex Home is a NAS is it? Does it even have the Rsync service on it? If it does have it what version of Rsync is installed?
- johkAspirantYes it is a cheaper nas - and no it doesn't have a rsync installed.

- johkAspirantHi,
That is why I now have the readynas - but I still would like to backup to the goflex without using a computer inbetween.
Can i use ftp when backing up? I have it enabled but it is not showing up as an option when setting up a backup.
Thanks,
johk - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou could try using one of the Windows/NAS backup options.
