When you install the VPN client application on your computer there really isn't anything you should have to do in your router and the PureVPN app should automatically configure everything during installation.  However, depending on your router's menu options you should be able to find your WAN settings either under "Internet" or "Basic Settings".  You are looking for the option that shows your Internet IP address and DNS address.  The Advanced settings section should also have additional WAN settings available.

When router manufacturers include VPN instructions they are usually talking about using the router as a VPN server.  This allows you secure access to your home network from a remote location.  While it is possible for your router to function as a VPN client, it requires third-party firmware to be installed on the router.  I would only recommend this for advanced users.  Stick with running the VPN client on your computer for starters.  Note that PureVPN offers a 7-day money back guarantee so you can try it risk free (I don't use PureVPN, I just saw that they offer a money back guarantee on their website)..
