Bridging with older WNDR3700 router - need some advice

Hey guys, I'm wanting to network a couple routers together but not sure if what I want is possible or not. I have just upgraded my router to an R6200. What I'd like to do is take my older WNDR3700 and connect it to the 6200 via wireless. And from there use the 3700 to run a wired connection to a computer. Is this possible to do?

The functionality you are looking for is called bridge mode by Netgear.  I looked at the WNDR3700 manual and, unfortunately, it doesn't look like it supports bridge mode.  The R6200, however, does support bridge mode.  While it's not ideal, you could keep your WNDR3700 as your main router and use your R6200 in bridge mode to connect your wired computer.

Thanks for the input! Bummer that it won't work. Still appreciate your confirming that it is called bridging. Been trying to learn more in depth stuff with networking so was hoping this idea would work. Still good stuff to learn.

You're welcome.  Don't get too wedded to idea of associating the word "bridging" to this technique.  There are other terms that describe the same thing, like client mode and client bridging.  "Bridging" has many meanings in the networking world.

BTW, any range extender with an Ethernet port can do this, too.  Or, of course, you can install a Wi-Fi adapter into the computer itself.

True, I could put a wireless card in too. I figured for the equipment I had though I'd see where I can go with it. Step out from the typical home network setup.
