Ethernet drops out, but wifi is fine. R6260

Router: R6260
Firmware Version: V1.1.0.88_1.0.1
PC OS: Duel boot (Windows 10 & Linux Arch)
For a few years now using Ethernet has caused my network to crash. However the connection seems to work perfectly fine when I'm not wired and instead using wifi dongles (with the exception that it's much slower, but stable). I've used a windows cmd ping "ping -t google.com" to test the connection and I would get six back to back "request timed out" when the network would crash. Another situation is going on speedtest and having it sometimes crash after I just started the speedtest. As an example, if I were to just browse the internet there would be the slightest chance of it dying for a bit and then working fine again. More annoyingly when I'm playing an online only game and getting disconnected whenever this would occur. I get 400 megabit downloads. I recently swapped Ethernet cables running to my PC, but this had no effect. The other PC in the house that is wired seems fine with no random drop outs.
So somehow wifi works perfectly fine and using Ethernet has a fair chance to crash my network. What am I missing here?

FOUND MY SOLUTION. So I tested my connection and the router would at points cut out my Ethernet cable connection. The NIC port was the problem and is starting to go faulty and replacing it with a USB 3.0 to Ethernet fixed it.

So one wired pc works fine and the other doesn't?
that'd tend to indicate its an issue with that device and not the router.

Re: Ethernet drops out, but wifi is fine. R6260
I'll try to clarify on my situation a bit better. The internet provider is Xfinity/Comcast. I was specifically testing on one device (my PC) that the Ethernet connection can be very unstable (resulting in the network crashing) and when recently trying wifi dongles circumvented the connection problem and it was stable (The Ethernet cable to my PC was disconnected during wifi testing), but I want that stable Ethernet connection as there would be practically zero packet loss on wired. After testing my Ethernet cable on my laptop the speeds we're stable, not faster like they should be, but stable.
I just recently tested another device being my PlayStation 4 and that seemed to have crashed my network as well with the old and new Ethernet cable. I just took the time to test the other desktop in the house on Ethernet and that seems stable as well. So I've tested on on a total of four devices (My Desktop on Ethernet and Wifi, Laptop on Ethernet, PlayStation 4 on Ethernet and other home desktop on Ethernet).
Perhaps the Ethernet ports to my PC and PlayStation 4 are somewhat damaged or perhaps some kind of dust build up?
My other shot in the dark solution is a new router, but I doubt this is the issue considering the wifi connections and wired outside of these two devices are stable.

What modem/gateway is the router connected to?

Re: Ethernet drops out, but wifi is fine. R6260
We have an Arris Surfboard SB8200. The modem replaced a few months ago with no difference. Couldn't remember what the last one was, but considering there's no difference than I don't think it's the modem.

So from what I tested recently and I could be mistaken, but it seems that the network isn't dying when my PC or PS4 is attached to the Ethernet cable. Just the PS4 and PC.

So I just discovered when my internet dies on my PC. I can't seem to access the router settings on my browser. Could the router be kicking me out somehow? The settings are factory with the only settings changed are the wireless passwords.

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
