Some modems claim to be NBN compatible, but there are reports that this is not always the case.
You could always see if your modem can work in "modem only" mode and use it to feed a router that does the rest of the network stuff.

I took the plunge and bought a Nighthawk X8, Works Great and seems to have increased the NBN speed and stabilised the connection
