Which of these two is the better Netgear router?

I'll be using it for gaming, mostly. Consumer Reports rated the first router pretty high, but I'm not too familiar with Consumer Reports. I'm also not too familiar with gaming routers.

Those two have similar price. I have 1 gbps internet.

Also, follow-up question. It's better to have your devices plugged in directly at the router, right? I also have a Netgear switch the (Nighthawk S8000), so anything plugged in to the switch has some latency compared to plugging in the router, right?

    That's probably the GS808E.
