Some Netgear router models (with some firmware versions) can allow shell access using a Telnet connection. A Web search for terms like: Netgear Telnet enable should find some programs which might help. (I use the program which I modified: http://antinode.info/nte/ ) But I would not bet that such access will help you to solve whatever your actual problem might be.
