Netgear N150 wireless USB Adapter keeps turning itself off after Windows 10 upgrade.

Since an upgrade to W10 my N150 wireless USB adapter keeps turning itself off. I have the latest Netgear drivers installed. It will work for a short time after unplugging and re-inserting then it goes off.

I have two identical systems the other one works perfectly. I have swapped the adapters but the fault remains the same, the other machine works perfectly with both adapters.

I have run out of ideas....can anyone help please.

Thanks

Leo

  • You can try disabling any power management for the adapter.  There are two settings I am aware of.

    1. Under the advanced settings in the Power Options Control Panel, you may have an option to adjust the Wireless Adapter Power Saving Mode.  I have it set to Maximum Performance on my Windows machines.
    2. In the Network Adapter properties for your wireless adapter, you may have a Power Management tab.  If you do, then you can uncheck the option to allow the computer to turn off the device to save power.
