How do you format the drives back to NTFS after upgrade?

I've just replaced my two 1tb drives with two 2tb drives in my ReadyNas Duo.

How do you format the drives back to NTFS after upgrade?

I put them into my windows machine and they aren't detected. Can they be formatted somehow back to NTFS?

  • 1. Download UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD from http://www.ubcd4win.com/).

    2. Boot from CD and use one of the Partitioning/Formatting Utilities included to format your EXT drives back to NTFS.

    It's a free download.

Do they not show up in the Windows disk management tool? They should, although Windows may not know what the filesystem is. I have nuked ReadyNAS ext4 partitions using this method.

  • There is ext plugins for Windows.
