I just can't delete time machine

I've read every single post on this and just can't make it work. My time machine allotment on the ReadyNAS+ is full, even though I have 4 1-TB discs, and have allotted the full 2038 GB to Time Machine--says "zero KB of 2.19 TB available." I also have an AirPort Time Capsule which I use for 2 mac's, and want to use my ReadyNas for a 3rd new mac--so I want to wipe the Time Machine backups from the ReadyNas and start fresh. I had previously used the ReadyNas for Mac backup but stopped when I started getting errors that there was no more room--that's when I purchased the AirPort and started using that. There is still plenty of room on the ReadyNas hard drives: "Volume C: Online, X-RAID, 4 disks, 50% of 5555 GB used"

I have tried mounting the ReadyNAS in finder (NAS-01-B5-D8(CIFS)) and logging in as admin. I've put in the terminal settings to see hidden folders. When I open Finder I see NAS-01-B5-D8(CIFS), NAS-01-B5-D8, NAS-01-B5-D8(AFP), among others, in the left column under "shared". If I click on any of those I see my regular ReadyNAS shares (backup, documents, media, misc, video_projects)--not sure if I should see something specific to Time Machine, I don't. If I look within "Backup" I have folders for my 3 non-Mac computers that backup to the ReadyNAS and I see hidden files entitled .apdisk and .DS_Store. Again, nothing related to Time Machine.

Can't find anything anywhere that looks like a .timemachine directory, although when I mount my AirPort Time Capsule I do see one (for the 2 macs that backup to it)--folder entitled "Data" and then 2 sparsebundles, one for each computer, as well as hidden file .com.apple.timemachine.supported, and ".DS_Store."

Any ideas anyone?? Muchos gracias.

Under Security > Security Mode what mode are you using?

The sparsebundles are what you want to delete to free up the space.
  • Security mode = "share" (workgroup="volume").

That's my point--I can see the sparsebundles in the Time Capsule where I DON'T want to delete, because its working fine. I can't see the sparsebundles in my ReadyNAV where I'm trying to delete them.

I have a total of 6 computers, backing up 2 Macs to the Time Capsule (that used to back up to the ReadyNAV and I want to delete the Time Machine space that was taken up in the ReadyNAV previously), 3 non-macs to the ReadyNav (the PCs are backing up fine to the non-Time Machine space), and trying to add a Mac to the ReadyNAV where the Time Machine space is apparently full and won't allow further backup, but also won't reveal the Sparsebundle space on Finder so that I can delete it.
  • Thanks MDGM! At least now I can see the .timemachine files from Finder. My problem now is trying to delete the actual sparsebundles within that file to free up space. Deleting them leads to a dialog box that says "deleting" the file but never ends (it did with the 1st file after a long time, but I have several other sparsebundles, and they stay in a "deleting" state for over 24 hrs without deleting. Even when I click the "X" to stop deleting, then it just says "stopping" forever. I also tried creating a new share called "tempTM" and tried moving the files there (in order to then delete that share), but I just get a dialog that says "preparing to move to "tempTM" but nothing happens in over 24 hrs (there's a faded file name that appears in the tempTM but the file never finishes moving).

All very frustrating. Have rebooted computer, ReadyNas (doing volume scan and checking/fixing quotas), etc.
