MKV's unsupported to PS3
MKV's show up on my samsung TV, but on the ps3 they say unsupported. Is this to be expected? I see other notes here where people say MKV's work, but none of mine do. I'm running 4.2.19 on a PRO6.
Also, I know about /var/log/upnp-av.log, but that shows nothing about play activity. Is there a minidlna.log somewhere that might tell me something about this?
thanks,
steve

Re: MKV's unsupported to PS3
PS3 doesn't support streamed mkv files - which is why they are not visible

Re: MKV's unsupported to PS3
Well, just to be clear, there are entries for the MKV's, they just show as unsupported format. The ps3mediaserver will play them to the PS3 and CPU is really low so I don't think it is transcoding. Also, I see several notes like this one: viewtopic.php?f=76&t=54398&p=320211&hilit=mkv+duo#p320211 that seem to contradict what you are saying. I did find something on the net that said to completely rename the file and use a different suffix because the PS3 just doesn't know about that file type, but fully supports most of the encodings used in MKV files. I'll have to try that later today.

Re: MKV's unsupported to PS3
Can't comment on the ps3 media server, but the fact is ReadyDLNA does not transcode or remux and PS3 does not support streamed mkv irrespective of the format of the streams within the mkv container - so you PS3 cannot play mkv via DLNA

Ok, I get it. I only have 2 of these. mkv2vob is the answer. Thanks.

Re: MKV's unsupported to PS3
I use SmatLabs tsMuxeR to remux the MKV file to m2ts files which play on the PS3. The I change the extension to avi to keep the Windows 7 media streamer happy. I've been doing this for a long time. Do a Google search on tsMuxeR and you should be able to d/l it.

Re: MKV's unsupported to PS3
Thanks Hdtvman. tsMuxeR worked. I don't have many MKV's so remuxing them is an acceptable solution.
