Because you chose Flex-RAID last time it chose that by default this time.
If you do another factory reset (wipes all data, settings, everything), discover the NAS using RAIDar (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20684/), click Setup and choose X-RAID and confirm your choice you can change to using X-RAID.
