Ready NAS Remote
Hello again,
I am not having much luck with ReadyNas Remote now. I have a laptop which I use at home away from the studio, and I have downloaded ReadyNas Remote and also activated it on the system. But when at home the Remote picked up the unit in the studio but wont fully connect for me to access the files.
Do I have to change something with the firewall or am I missing something big here?
Thanks for your help!
H
UPDATE: I CAN NOW CONNECT TO THE UNIT BUT CAN ONLY VIEW THE FOLDERS AND NOT FILES!

- dgerson76AspirantDid you just upgrade to Mountain Lion, and perhaps update your ReadyNAS firmware and/or latest ReadyNAS remote? I am seeing the same.
- ES_LTD_StudioAspirantHi,
Just fully updated on the Mountain Lion front, but the unit wont let me update the firmware... I have posted about that but yet not found a reply or solution - dandeadmanAspirantHi I'm having what sounds to be the same issue.
I can connect to my readynas remotely and it presents me with my shares to mount but once I've mounted them I cannot see the contents of my share that I've mounted.
Any ideas? - pjchaconAspirantHi, I'm having the same issue from either me iMac running Lion or my iPad 2 running iOS 5.1.1. I can log into the my ReadyNAS and see the folders I have shared but I can never see the files under the folders.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Pablo - cydeweyzTutorDitto. We need a fix. Why is an update to Readynas Remote taking so long?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNetGear's working on an update to ReadyNAS Remote to add compatibility with ML. Unfortunately those of who've been early adopters of ML have found that the update has broken compatibility with ReadyNAS Remote which means an update to ReadyNAS Remote is needed.

+1 It's now September, I don't think we're "early adopters" anymore. :) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredMountain Lion is still only on 10.8.1. My personal view is that is early adoption. If you want things to work really well it's best to wait for the .3 or .4 release. Generally by then most software has been updated to work really well and lots of bugs with the new OS have been sorted out. In my view unless your in the IT industry or buying new hardware there's no reason to need to try out 10.8 just yet.
NetGear has let me know that they're working on a fix for ML. Hopefully we'll hear more soon. - atebitTutor

Here's another reason for you: you buy a new MacBook last week and it shipped with Mountain Lion. Which is my lot.
Apple made a golden master available to devlopers at the beginning of July, 8+ weeks ago. I can maybe understand that's not enough time to develop a new version, but it's certainly enough time to test & report the issue on the forum so we at least know about it. The only way I found out was seeing the user messages here, not a message from a Jedi that there were compatibility issues. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI did mention "buying new hardware" as a reason to be on ML and you quoted that. Apple only ships their latest OS on new hardware which does lead to this unfortunate situation like this soon after a major OS update.
As things can change a fair bit till the release of a product and ML was released to the public at the end of July it's likely work on an update would have commenced after that time.
If you went to install ReadyNAS Remote on ML you would notice that it's not Gatekeeper signed which is a pretty big giveaway that the last update was released before the release of Mountain Lion. Having said that I agree it would've been nice to have some messages about compatibility posted.
