ReadyNAS 424 unresponsive after 30 mins uptime
My ReadyNAS 424 often goes unresponsive after 30 minutes up time - the front panel buttons only light up blue upon pressing and do not bring up front panel info, and I cannot log into the admin page and I have to shut it down ungracefully (long press on the power button). I can then start it back up fine. This problem is intermittent. I have tried downgrading from OS 6.10.8 to 6.10.7 and 6.10.3 and the problem persists.
Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting or solutions?
I am happy to post logs.
Thank you

Have you downloaded the log zip file?
RAIDar also has a diagnostic you might try.

Another option is to open an SSH window and run top in it, then see if a process is at 100% CPU at the time it crashes.

It makes sense to do all three.

Re: ReadyNAS 424 unresponsive after 30 mins uptime
Hi - thank you for the tips.
Re: the logs - Yes, I've downloaded the log .zip file - should I upload the entire archive here? I'm not sure if it would contain sensitive information - it contains 77 files - which could be relevant?
Re: RAIDar - i've run the diagnostics and it comes back with the following:
Successfully completed diagnostics
System
- Disk 1 has 16 Reallocated Sectors
- Disk 1 has 16 Reallocation Events
- Disk 1 has 408 Current Pending Sectors
- Disk 1 has 408 Uncorrectable Sectors
Logs
- No errors found.

Re: ReadyNAS 424 unresponsive after 30 mins uptime
thanks for the "top tip" ha!
I have top running and will keep it open - if/when the system crashes again, I presume top will display the last refresh.
So far the tracker-miner-f command has been using 90%+ CPU for the past 25 minutes (the entire time the readynas has been up)
I'll report any further findings here.

Re: ReadyNAS 424 unresponsive after 30 mins uptime
the readynas has now gone unresponsive to any presses to the buttons on the front panel and the LED is blank. it is still running however, and I am able to browse the disk in windows explorer
top is showing the afpd command utilising 100% CPU

Re: ReadyNAS 424 unresponsive after 30 mins uptime
~400 pending sectors suggest that the disk needs to be replaced.
It could be linked to the unresponsive problem.
BTW, don't post the logs here - there is some privacy leakage. I'm willing to take a quick look if you like. Put the zip into cloud storage (dropbox, google drive, etc), and send me a PM with a link (you can't attach it). Make sure the permissions allow anyone with the link to download it.
Send a PM using the envelope icon in the top right of the router page.
