Slow artwork/id3 tag updates

I think this just happened when I updated to my new Macbook Air with OSX 10.7 (Lion). I have both my iTunes library and media stored on my ReadyNAS. When updating albums with to use higher resolution artwork the updating process takes multiple minutes for a single album. IIRC on my prior Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.8 this process was significantly faster. Although this may be an Apple only issue I figures some others here may have experienced this and just maybe even solved it. Thanks!

  • Bump. No one? Someone must store iTunes media and db on ReadyNAS and have this horrible speed problem?
  • This *may* be an issue with the edia files themselves - one I've encountered with iTunes and other such tools, though never fully got to he bottom of.

Depending on the media format and how it is created, iTunes can either update the media directly (an incremental change) or it sometimes needs to read the complete file and write it a new. If the latter, then the time required is of course longer and there is little you can do.

FYI I now use Bliss to auto update my artwork and so avoid needing to worry about it
