Sorry for not getting back earlier. I think I found a few more details. It seems that this problem appears if rsync thinks it needs to retransmit/check already existing files. I had one 260GB file on the destination machine where the original file on the source ReadyNAS had 274GB and was also partially changed. Because rsync runs without --inplace it has to copy the entire file again to some temp file in the same folder. This goes pretty fast for appr. 265GB at the expected max network speed (~100MB/s) but then drops to 10kB/s for the remaining data. Funny detail is that this is for data thats definitely not existing on the destination machine so rsync has nothing left to check. The cpu load is at 0% and also no wait time for disks. The entire destination machine idles in this state. I could workaround this issue by simply deleting the entire file on the destination ReadyNAS before starting the backup again.
I never noticed this with any of the previous releases, before 6.9.3.
