i have an a6100 mini usb adapter paired to a c7000v2 gateway. the link speed is locked on 54/433. this is causing me to only get 200mbps down on my 600mbps internet plan. if i hardwire i get the full speed. i have factory reset gateway. i have made sure wmm is enabled and wmf for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. i have made sure the gateway is in ac 1.3gbps on the 5ghz and 600mbps on the 2.4. i even tried disabling wmm and wmf and then reenabling them. this is very frustrating. i dont know if the issue is my gateway or my adapter.

It not either. You con't see 600mbps wireless with the C7000.
Link speed is NOT the same as actual throughput speed. Its usually around that 55-65% but you're going to have +/-'s with that.
Add on the fact that the C7000 is a combo device so it won't have the same peak speed as a stand alone router device.
And the fact that the A6100 is a single antenna device meaning you're getting the max link speed that the A6100 has available. It doesn't have 2x2 antenna's for a better link speed.
So its not a "problem" its a misunderstanding of link speed and expected performance of the C7000/A6100.

I also know link speed is NOT the same as throughput speed. I’m not some idiot and don’t appreciate being talked to like one.----Did I say you were an idiot? I’m going to school for computer science and networking---and did you put any of that in the initial post or just get offended because I went over the info? but I know I should be getting more than 200mbps on my wireless connection with my plan speed.----Then you should be able to fix this (not that there is a fix since its a hardware limitation) and not on a public support forum where its memberts of the public trying to help out. I’m trying to rule out issues. If I’m going to be treated like this then this will be the last time I buy netgear products.-----Again, this isn't netgear. this is the public support forum. Where we literally get people at times who don't know how to change their ssid or even know their ssid isn't their model number. Its why we have to explain more than other times.

Re: link speed locked
No worries. Just trying to explain. We're not trying to be rude but we get people from a wide range of networking understanding.
You can potentially try using a different adapter that supports 2x2 antenna configurations.
but you're not going to get a whole lot more out of the C7000. Again, because its a combo device, it has to share its power envelope and cpu/ram/resources with the modem side of things. So even though it has the same wireless chip in it as the R7000 (exact same) its not going to hit the same peak performance.
Are you needing more wireless speeds?
Unless you're doing massive file transfers, 200mbps is more than enough for gaming/streaming/etc.
Again, not trying to be rude, just trying to figure out what you're trying to accomplish to best help you with that.

Re: link speed locked
The C7000 should support that many devices without much issues for a standard home.
What size is your home?
what is the interior walls made of?

Unfortunately, the worst culprits when it comes to not understanding how things work seem to be those who throw around their credentials. Present company excluded, but I have seen too many self-styled "IT specialists" here talking rubbish.
Wifi speeds are a particular area where ignorance is widespread. For example, too many people turn up and ask why they can't get 1000 Mbps wifi from their 1000 Mbps Internet connection. The laws of physics seem to have passed them by.
Wifi speeds depend as much on the client as on the source. Something as small, cheap and ancient (2013) as the A6100 isn't going to be the most powerful wifi client on the block.
Unfortunately, a lot of the confusion comes about because the marketing people throw around impossible numbers. That's where this comes in useful:
Understand Wi-Fi 4/5/6 (802.11 n/ac/ad/ax)
@duckware knows their stuff and can bust a few myths and cut through marketing hype.

Re: link speed locked
Your iphone should be a 2x2 antenna setup. So it'll potentially see double the speed of the a6100 (which according to your numbers it does).
I'm pretty impressed the c7000 hitting 400mbps on your iphone. I usually see it top out around 250-350mbps.
